Specimen Collection & Preparation

Specimen Requirements:

1 Fecal ESwab
Specimen Information:


Collection Instructions:

  1. Avoid contamination with water or urine and avoid mixing toilet paper or soap with the specimen.
  2. Collect Fecal specimen in commode hat or plain clean container
  3. Open Fecal eSwab package.
  4. Loosen cap and stand culture tube on flat surface or hold in nondominant hand.
  5. Grasp swab above pink breakpoint line.
  6. Insert swab end into stool, specifically any mucoidal or bloody or liquid areas, coating swab. DO NOT SCOOP OR ADD ADDITIONAL STOOL.
  7. Insert swab into culture tube, ensuring that liquid is NOT above black fill line. If liquid is above black fill line, discard sample and begin with a fresh kit.
  8. Cap securely and shake well.
