Clean Catch Midstream (CCMS)
The person obtaining the urine specimen should wash hands with soap and water, rinse, and dry. 

Unscrew cap of the cup. Place cap on counter with “straw” facing upward. 

TO AVOID CONTAMINATION, DO NOT TOUCH INSIDE OF CUP, CAP OR STRAW.

1. Cleanse with towelettes as follows
Male
A. Wipe head of penis in a single motion with first towelette.
B. Repeat with second towelette. If not circumcised, hold foreskin back before cleansing.
C. Urinate a small amount into the toilet
Female
A. Separate the labia.
B. Wipe inner labia folds front to back in a single motion with the first towelette.
C. Wipe down through the center of the labial folds with the second towelette. 
D. Keep the labia separated and Urinate a small amount into the toilet

2. Stop flow of urine. Then move the specimen container into place to collect the “midstream” sample.
3. Replace cap on cup and tighten cap securely.
4. Wash hands after collection.
5. Specimen should be labeled with full legal patient name, date of birth, date and time of collection.
6. Transfer urine to a urine transport tube.
    A. Place the cap of the Yellow Top Tube (must be collected first) onto the Needle found below the label. Push 
         until a steady vacuum of urine begins flowing into the tube.
    B. Once vacuum discontinues pull the tube from the needle.
    C. Invert yellow top tube a few times.
    D. Repeat steps a through d with the grey top tube.

Notes:
Sharp needle is located under label.
Only the yellow top tube and the Grey top tube should be sent to the laboratory for testing
