Specimen Overview

Order must include the patients age and gender

Specimen Requirements:

-OR-

100.0 mL aliquot from a well mixed 24 hour Urine Collection in a Plastic Container
Minimum Volume:
20.0 mL aliquot from a well mixed 24 hour Urine
Collection Instructions:

When starting the 24-hour period, urinate and discard (throw-away) this specimen. NOTE THE TIME

From that time on, collect all urine by urinating into a clean container and transfer into the provided container. 
DO NOT URINATE DIRECTLY INTO CONTAINER.

Try to pass the last urine just prior to the end of the 24 hour period. Add this urine into the container. 

Urine Specimen should be kept refrigerated during and after collection.

Reference Range:

1 year to 2 years: 0.5 - 2.5 mg/24 hour
3 years to 4 years: 1.0 - 4.0 mg/24 hours
5 years to 6 years: 1.0 - 4.8 mg/24 hours
7 years to 8 years: 1.0 - 5.6 mg/24 hours
9 years to 10 years: 1.0 - 7.0 mg/24 hours
11 years to 12 years: 1.5 - 8.0 mg/24 hours

Male: 
13 years to 16 years: 2.0 - 6.0 mg/24 hours
17 years to 17 years: 3.0-10.0 mg/24 hours
Adult: 3.0 - 10.0 mg/24 hours

Female:
13 years to 16 years: 2.8 - 6.8 mg/24 hours
