Collection Instructions

Mix tube by inversion 5 times

Do not centrifuge

Specimens must not be clotted and cannot contain microclots. Overfilling or underfilling may allow blood to clot. Specimens may be rejected due to WBC deterioration resulting from improper storage or age of specimen

Clinical Interpretation

Reference Range:

Males > 14 Yrs: 150.0 - 450.0 th/ul
Females > 14 Yrs: 150.0 - 450.0 th/ul


Critical Ranges:

Pediatric (< = 15 days old) Low Critical Limits:  < = 30.0 t/ul

Pediatric (< = 15 days old) High Critical Limits: > = 850 t/ul

Low Critical Limits:  < = 30 t/ul

High Critical Limits> = 850 t/ul

Low NICU (Infants in a Parkview Health Neonatal Intensive Care Unit):  <= 100,000 t/ul

Low ONC (Patients in a Parkview Health Oncology Unit): <= 20 t/ul

High NICU (Infants in a Parkview Health Neonatal Intensive Care Unit):   >=600,000 t/ul
