Discontinuing Testing In-house

On July 1, 2025, Parkview Health laboratories will discontinue in-house testing of LAB2467-Urine Eosinophils (EOSO) on recommendation of the Laboratory Stewardship Committee and the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Historically, this test has been used as a biomarker for acute interstitial nephritis (AIN). More recent studies with larger cohorts have shown low sensitivity and specificity of this test for AIN. Eosinophiluria has been found in many kidney diseases and is no better at distinguishing AIN from other kidney diseases.

Requests for this test after the effective date will be ordered as Miscellaneous Lab Order and sent out to Mayo Clinic (EOSU1). Refer any questions for send out testing to the Send Out Department at 266-1550.
