Clinical Significance

Skin antibodies (inter-epithelial) are found in 90% of patients with Pemphigus vulgaris and P. foliaceus. Dermal-epidermal skin antibodies are antibodies found in 90% of patients with Bullous pemphigoid and 90% of Cicatricial pemphigoid

Reference Range:

Skin Autoantibodies, Intercellular: 1:10 titer
Skin Autoantibodies, Dermal-Epidermal: 1:10 titer


Test Comments:

 If Intercellular Substance Antibody Screen is positive, then Intercellular Substance Antibody Titer will be performed at an additional charge (CPT code(s): 86256).
If Basement Membrane Zone Antibody Screen is positive, then Basement Membrane Zone Titer will be performed at an additional charge (CPT code(s): 86256).
