Collection Instructions:

Clinical history and reason for referral are required with test order.

Transport & Storage: Temperature/Stability: Specimen viability decreases during transit. Send specimen to testing laboratory for viability determination.

Test Comments: If results are not possible, the test order may be canceled and replaced by code 416 - Cytogenetics Communication
Methodology: Fluorescence in situ Hybridization (FISH)
Clinical Significance: To aid in sex determination and investigation of Turner syndrome
Documentation: If one or more FISH tests are ordered on a specimen without chromosome analysis, a tissue culture will be added at an additional charge (CPT code: 88230). 
Additional results received will no longer be reported.
