Specimen Collection & Preparation

Specimen Requirements:

1.0 mL Serum from a Red Top Tube in a Plastic Vial
Minimum Volume:
0.25 mL Serum*

* This volume does not allow for repeat testing

Collection Instructions:

Do not collect in a Gel Barrier Tube (SST or PST)

Avoid Hemolysis 

Specimens should be drawn at time frames listed: 
IM: 60 minutes after IM injection
IV: 15 minutes after the end of a 60 minute infusion 
or
30 minutes after the end of a 30 minute infusion


Transport and Storage:
  • Refrigerated (2-8°C): 3 Days
  • Frozen (-20° C or colder): 1 Month

Clinical Interpretation

Reference Range:

5 - 10 ug/mL


Critical Ranges:

> 10 ug/mL
