Specimen Requirements: 1.8 mL Serum from a Red Top Tube in a Plastic Vial
Collection Instructions: Order must incluce patient age and gender.  

Allow blood to clot (10-15 minutes) at room temperature. Centrifuge and separate the serum from the cells.
Minimum Volume: 0.9 mL Serum
Transport & Storage: Temperature/Stability: 1 week Ambient

Test Comments: Comment for reports for male patients over age 60: Aging men with clinically significant hypogonadal symptoms and testosterone values repeatedly in the range of the 200-300 ng/dL or less, may benefit from testosterone treatment after adequate risk and benefits' counseling.

Clinical Significance: Helpful in assessing testicular function in prepubescent hypogonadal males and in managing hirsutism, virilization in females.
