Collection Instructions:
1. Clean an area with an intact vesicleIf no intact vesicle, use edge of the most recently appearing erosion or ulcer.
 
2. Remove blister roof with blade, blot any excess blister fluid, scrape the base of the vesicle, erosion, or ulcer with scalpel blade, spread a thin layer onto a glass slide.

3. Immediately dip slide into 95% alcohol.
