Patient should discontinue taking Biotin, Vitamin B7, or Vitamin H 48 hours before getting blood drawn.

Test Comments:
When monitoring patients over time, thyroglobulin values obtained with different methods cannot be used interchangeably, due to the difference in methods and reagent specificity. This test was performed using the Siemens Centaur XP.

Patients taking vitamin supplements containing high doses of biotin (>5 mg/day) may have falsely increased test results generated.
