2.0 mL CSF in a #4 CSF Collection Sterile Plastic Vial

Collection Instructions: Do not centrifuge CSF. 


CSF Must be Clear - Blood contamination and hemolysis may interfere with results. Submitting 4th lumbar puncture collection tube minimizes blood contamination.
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL CSF
Transport & Storage: Temperature/Stability: 7 days Ambient
14 days Refrigerated
21 days Frozen

Refrigerated CSF at 2-8°C in sterile, plastic CSF vials, and send refrigerated (Cold Packs) to lab
or 
Freeze CSF specimens at -20°C and send frozen to the lab on dry ice.

Rejection Criteria: Hemolysis, Xanthochromia/RBCs in CSF
Reference Range: < or = 4.0 mcg/L
