Patient Preparation:  
Specimen Requirements:  1 Dried blood spot (DBS) card with 5 spots, 2 mL whole blood in lavender top tubes (EDTA)
Collection Instructions:  Complete kit will be collected in the NICU/PICU at the bedside.  Send entire kit to Lab for send-out.
Minimum Volume: 2 dried blood spots on card, 1 mL whole blood
Transport & Storage: Temperature/Stability: Stability: Dried blood spot:  Room Temp 2 days, refrigerated 2 years, frozen unacceptable; 
Whole Blood: Room Temp 10 days, refrigerated 10 days, frozen unacceptable

Methodology: Next generation sequencing (NGS)
Clinical Significance:  The Newborn Dx Advanced DNA Sequencing Evaluation addresses multiple genetic conditions across all 16 body systems that can present in the newborn period of early infancy.  This test provides the clinician with a single test of 1,722 relevant genes using dried blood spot cards, whole blood or saliva samples with results wihtin 7 days
