Client Notes:
Patient Preparation:
Specimen Requirements: 8 unstained paraffin slides
Collection Instructions:
Transport & Storage: Temperature/Stability:
Rejection Criteria: Mislabeled or unlabeled sample, sample subject to acid decalcification which severelry damages nucleic acids, specimens not fixed in neutral-buffered formalin
Reference Range: Not Detected
Test Comments:
Methodology: Polymerase Chain Reaction, Next-Generation Sequencing
Clinical Significance: This assay is designed to qualitatively detect targeted clinically-relevant nucleotide variants in 16S, 23S and gyrA genes of Helicobacter pylori.  Extracted nucleic acid is amplified by PCR, followed by next-generation sequencing and alignment and variant calling using genome NC_000915.1.  A negative result does not rule out the presence of bacteria template below the limit of detection of this assay.
