Collection Instructions: Use a lead-free tube if blood lead is also requested.
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL , pediatric 0.2 mL

Limitations: Aluminum and anemia of chronic disease may cause elevated results.

Clinical Significance: Zinc protoporphyrin (ZPP) accumulates in erythrocytes as a result of chronic lead absorption or iron deficiency anemia.
Documentation: This test was developed and its analytical performance characteristics have been determined by Quest Diagnostics. It has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This assay has been validated pursuant to the CLIA regulations and is used for clinical purposes.
