Patient Preparation: It is preferable for the patient to be off medications for 3 days before specimen collection. However, common antihypertensives (diuretics, ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers, alpha and beta blockers) cause minimal or no interference. Patient should avoid alcohol, coffee, tea, tobacco (including use of nicotine patch), bananas, citrus fruits, and strenuous exercise before collection.
Specimen Requirements: 10.0 mL Random Urine in a sterile Grey Cup
Collection Instructions:  pH adjusted to < 3.0, using 6N HCL.
Minimum Volume: 5.0 mL Urine
Transport & Storage: Temperature/Stability: 10 days Ambient (transport)
14 days Refrigerated

Rejection Criteria: pH >3.0; received frozen
