Specimen to be transported Refrigerated to PRMC within 48 hours of collection to be frozen by Immunology department to maintain specimen integrity until testing occurs. Do not transport Frozen.

Clinical Significance: PR-3 is the major target antigen of antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibodies (ANCA) which give a cytoplasmic (C-ANCA) immunofluorescence pattern. Elevated levels of PR-3 autoantibodies are classically observed in patients with Wegener granulomatosis (WG), particularly with active disease and less frequently in other forms of necrotizing vasculitis
