Beginning January 7, 2008 Parkview Health Laboratories will be offering AneuVysion testing on amniotic fluid specimens.
AneuVysion utilizes FISH technology to provide an early detection of possible aneuplodies in amniotic fluid samples. This covers nearly two-thirds of the abnormalities dectected at the time of amniocentesis. The testing has been found to be 99.9% accurate for the detection of trisomies 13, 18, 21 and aneusomies of X and Y. The turn-around-time is 2-5 working days. Abnormal FISH studies should be followed with cytogenetic amniocentesis studies.
