Nasal/nasopharyngeal swab, or endocervical swab, or conjunctiva, vesicle fluid/scraping, or urethral swab, or vaginal swab, or rectal mucosal or throat swab in 3 mL VCM Transport Medium (green-cap) tube
Collection Instructions:
Nasal/nasopharyngeal swab, endocervical swab, eye swab or lesion (vesicle) aspirate swab, urethral swab, vaginal swab, rectal mucosal swab (without feces) or throat swab collected in VCM (green-cap) tube or equivalent
To maintain optimum viability, place swab into VCM (equal volumes of fluid/tissue and VCM) or equivalent and transport the specimen to the laboratory as soon as possible.
