Specimen Requirements:

NOTE: Specimen Requirements may be different based on patients WBC (White Blood Cell Count). Contact Client Response at 266-1500 (Option 1) fo assistance if the patients WBC count is below normal Range.

Adults & Children over 10 years old
   12.0 to 16.0 mL Whole Blood in 4 Green Top Tube - Li Heparin 

Children 2 to 9 years of age
   6.0 mL Whole Blood in 2 Green Top Tubes - Li Heparin 

Children under the age of 2
   4.0 mL Whole Blood in a Green Top Tube - Li Heparin

Collection Instructions: Do Not Collect Before 6:00 a.m. Due to the short stability of the specimen, and the needed time to get to the reference laboratory. 

Specimens can be collected Monday thru Friday only

Methodology: Patent Testing
Clinical Significance: The T-SPOT. TB test detects the immune response of T cells that have been stimulated by M tuberculosis antigens.  The test utilizes M tuberculosis-specific antigens that are absent from BCG strains and most non-tuberculosis mycobacteria.   The T-SPOT.TB test is an indirect test for M tuberculosis infection (including disease) and is intended for use in conjunction with risk assessment, radiography and other medical and diagnostic evaluations
