8.0 mL Urine in a Yellow Conicial Tube
 


Collection Instructions:
Patient should not urinate for at least one hour prior to collecting the specimen.  Male patients should not cleanse the tip of the penis prior to collecting the specimen.  Collect the first catch urine (approximately 20-50 mL of the initial urine stream) into a urine collection cup free of any preservatives. 
 
Minimum Volume: 5.0 mL Urine

Rejection Criteria: Urine Specimens from Catheters; Gen-Probe Aptima Collection Kits
Reference Range: Negative for Chlamydia trachomatis by amplified probe

For patient less than 12 years of age - Culture is the only recommended procedure for diagnosing chlamydial or gonorrheal infection in cases of suspected child abuse.
