Specimen Requirements: 2.0 mL Serum from (2nd of 2) Navy Blue Top Tubes - No Additive in a Acid Washed, in an Metal-Free Plastic Tube
Collection Instructions: Draw one navy blue-top tube of blood and discard

Draw second navy blue-top tube
Allow blood to clot in an upright position. 
Centrifuge and pour the serum without disruppting red cells (do not pipette unless metal free pipette is used) into a metal-free tube.

Clinical Significance:

Occupational exposure and exposure to environmental contamination of Chromium may lead to toxicity. The need for Chromium supplements is unproven. Supplements taken in excess may also lead to Chromium toxicity.
