Specimen Requirements:

3.0 mL Whole Blood in a Lavender Top Tube - EDTA  from the patient
and
3.0 mL Whole Blood in a Lavender Top Tube - EDTA  from a control

Collection Instructions: Specimens may only be collected Monday through Thursday

1. Patient: Draw 3.0 mL of EDTA whole blood in a Lavender tube, refrigerate and label per PHL labeling requirements

2. Control: Draw 3.0 mL of EDTA whole blood in a Lavender tube from a normal, unrelated, non-smoking individual. Control sample must be drawn at the same time (or within 2 hours) of the patient. Label clearly on outermost label as: normal control and indicate gender of the control person on the tube.

3. Send both samples to the Send Out Department.
