Test Comments: A negative antibody test means a person has likely not been infected with SARS-CoV-2 or received a vaccine against SARS-CoV-2.  A positive antibody test is presumed to mean a person has been infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, at some point in the past or that a person has been vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2.  It does not mean there is a current infection.  At this time, it is unknown for how long antibodies persist following infection or vaccination or what level of antibodies are needed for protective immunity.  For the most up-to-date recommendations, please visit this site: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/lab/resources/andtibody-tests.html.
