Specimen Requirements: 100.0 mL CCMS Urine in a Sterile Conatainer.
Collection Instructions:

First MorningClean Catch Midstream ,  samples preferred

To properly collect a CCMS specimen: (See Addendum D for the Patients Instructions for CCMS Collection)

1. Wash hands with soap and water. 
2. Using the antiseptic skin towelettes provided, cleanse the genital area three times

Females: Separate folds of urinary opening with forefingers and clean the inside with towelettes using downward strokes only.  Keep skin folds separated during  urination into container.

Males: Clean the head of the penis. If not circumcised, pull the foreskin back for
cleaning and hold back during urination into container.  

3. Begin urination into toilet.  As urination continues, bring container into the stream, to obtain a clean voided specimen.  
4. Do not touch the inside of the container. 
5. Screw cap on container.  Do not touch the inside of the cap.
