Test Comments:

This test was performed using the Siemens Chemiluminescent method. Values obtained from different assay methods cannot be used interchangeably. CA 27.29 levels, regardless of value, should not be interpreted as absolute evidence of the presence or absence of disease.

Temporary Comment

The CA 27.29 results may be increased on average 5-10%, relative to results previously obtained with this method due to a recent calibrator adjustment made in October 2024 by the reagent manufacturer. In the low range for this assay (<38 U/mL), this increase may be greater than 20%. Serially monitored results should always be used in conjunction with other diagnostic procedures, including clinical evaluation

Methodology:
  • Immunoassay (IA)

Clinical Significance

CA 27.29 may be useful for monitoring patients for metastatic breast cancer.
