Last Modified: 1/7/2011 7:29:44 AM

Specimen Requirements:

10.0 mL Random Urine in a plastic container

Minimum Volume: 5.0 mL
Transport & Storage: Temperature/Stability: 1 week Refrigerated
Reference Range: Negative (less than assay limit of detection)
Test Comments: Detect presence of Hydrocodone/Hydromorphone
Methodology: GC/MS
Clinical Significance: Hydrocodone (Vicodin®) is a semi-synthetic narcotic analgesic of the drug class Opiates/Opioids. This prescription narcotic is used in the management of pain. Non-conventional modes of administration (e.g., snorting and intravenous) can greatly depress the central nervous system, heighten the euphoric effects and increase the toxicity of this drug. This assay not only detects the presence of hydrocodone, but will also detect the presence of the active metabolite, hydromorphone. Positive result indicates exposure to drug and does not necessarily indicate impairment
Custom Panel: No
