Medical Necessity Documentation:  
Client Notes: Inform the patient that the test will take a little over one hour and that they will need to remain in the building during that time. 
Patient Preparation:
Smoking, drinking, gum chewing, mints, cough drops, etc… are not allowed during the duration of the test

Medications may still be taken as ordered by the physician. 
Specimen Requirements: 1.0 mL Plasma in a PST Mint Green Top Tube - Li Heparin
Collection Instructions: 1.  Administer the 50 grams of Glucola beverage by having the patient consume the beverage within 5 minutes
2. Start timing the test after the patient has finished the drink.

Specimen must be separated from cells within 4 hours
Minimum Volume: 0.2 mL
