Specimens not tested within 8 hours of collection must be stored refrigerated. Ideal to transport specimen at 2 to 8°C.

Test Comments:
This test is for pregnant women between 24 and 36 weeks gestation.
Do not order test if: gestation < 24 weeks or > 36 weeks, cervical dilation > 3 cm, cervical cerclage, amniotic membranes have ruptured, moderate or gross vaginal bleeding, multiple gestation eg. twins, placenta previa (partial or complete), sexual intercourse in the preceding 24 hours.
