Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL Urine
Transport & Storage: Temperature/Stability: 12 hours Ambient
7 days Refrigerated
Reference Range:

Measured Kappa Chains                           < 2.00 mg/dL
Measured Lambda Chains < 2.00 mg/dL

Methodology: Nephelometric
Clinical Significance: Polyclonal immunoglobulin light chains (kappa and lambda) normally occur in a ratio of 2: 1, whereas monoclonal immunoglobulin light chains exhibit only one type of light chain, either kappa or lambda. A kappa: Lambda ratio outside of 2: 1 is an indication fo monoclonal gammopathy.
