Transport & Storage: Temperature/Stability: 48 hours Refrigerated

Specimen to be transported Refrigerated to PRMC within 48 hours of collection to be frozen by Immunology department to maintain specimen integrity until testing occurs. Do not transport Frozen.
Reference Range:
O.D. Ratio < =0.90 indicates no detectable
Epstein Barr Virus EBNA IgG antibody.
No evidence of infection or immunity.
 
A single specimen is of limited diagnostic
value in documentation of an acute or
concurrent infection.
 
O.D. Ratio 0.91 - 1.09 is equivocal for Epstein Barr Virus
EBNA IgG antibody.  Suggest a new specimen be collected
and retested.
 
A single specimen is of limited diagnostic value
in documentation of an acute or concurrent
infection.
O.D. Ratio >=1.10 is positive for
Epstein Barr Virus EBNA IgG antibody.
In asymptomatic patients, a positive value
is consistent with previous infection or immunity.
 
A single  specimen is of limited diagnostic value
in documentation of an acute or concurrent infection.
