Methodology: EIA
Clinical Significance: The presence of mumps specific-IgG antibodies would suggest previous immunization or exposure to the mumps virus. In non-immunized individuals, when paired acute and convalescent specimens (two to three weeks apart) are evaluated with a 4-fold or greater rise in mumps specific-IgG antibodies, an acute infection is suggested and should be corroborated with clinical presentation.
