Clinical Significance

Histone antibody is present in 80-95% of patients with drug-induced Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), 20-50% of patients with idiopathic SLE, and infrequently in patients with other autoimmune connective tissue diseases.

Rejection Criteria:

Gross hemolysis

Gossly lipemic

Heat-treated

Specimens containing heavy, visible particles

Clinical Interpretation

Reference Range:

Negative: < 1.0 
Weak Positive: 1.0 - 1.5
Moderate Positive: 1.6 - 2.5
Strong Positive: > 2.5
