Clinical Significance

A rapid immunochromatographic assay for the detection of Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 antigen in the urine of patients with pneumonia. It is intended, in conjunction with culture and other methods, to aid in the presumptive diagnosis of Legionella infection causes by L.pneumophila serogroup 1.  L. pneumophila serogroup 1 antigen has been detected in urine as early as three days after the onset of symptoms.

10.0 mL Urine in a Yellow Topped Conical Tube - No Preservatives
Minimum Volume:
1.0 mL Urine*

* This volume does not allow for repeat testing

Collection Instructions:

Collect in a plastic container utilizing a straw kit and pull to a yellow topped conical tube

 

Use of a discard urine tube after a catheter has been inserted is recommended to minimize the risk of collecting contaminated urine specimens due to the presence of lubricants.


Processing Instructions:

Ensure that primary urine specimens are thoroughly mixed before aliquoting them for testing.

  • Ambient (18-24°C): 24 Hours
  • Refrigerated (2-8°C): 1 Week

  • Frozen (-20° C or colder): 1 Week
