If Calcium results are needed for interpretation of PTH results, the Calcium test must be ordered separately.

Patient Preparation: Patient should discontinue taking Biotin, Vitamin B7, or Vitamin H 48 hours before getting blood drawn.
Specimen Requirements: 3.0 mL Plasma from a Lavender Top Tube - EDTA in a Plastic Vial 
Collection Instructions: Centrifuged and separate from cells within 1 hour of collection 
Minimum Volume: 0.2 mL Plasma
Transport & Storage: Temperature/Stability: 2 days Refrigerated
Rejection Criteria: Hemolysis
Reference Range: 15 - 62 pg/mL
Critical Ranges:  
Test Comments: Patients taking vitamin supplements containing doses of >5 mg/day may have falsely decreased test results generated.
