Test Comments: Detect presence of Oxycodone/Oxymorphone
Methodology: GC/MS
Clinical Significance: Oxycodone (Percodan®, Oxycontin®) is a semi-synthetic narcotic analgesic of the drug class Opiates/Opioids. This prescription narcotic is used in the management of pain. Non-conventional modes of administration (e.g., snorting and intravenous) can greatly depress the central nervous system, heighten the euphoric effect, and increase the toxicity of this drug. This assay not only detects the presence of oxycodone, but will also detect the presence of the active metabolite, oxymorphone. Positive result indicates exposure to drug and does not necessarily indicate impairment
